Undisturbed by anyone, Troyes is continuing their march to claiming 3rd spot at the end of the season, having now 4 points clear to 4-6th spot. They smashed Lorient in previous round, wining 3-0 versus a top 5th contender after a perfect game. With this win Troyes in in a series of 9 games without defeat, wining 7 from these (5 at nil). Very hard for them to attack 2nd position giving the fact they have 7 points to recover and Brest didn’t give signs they are in trouble at all. So the best they can achieve is 3rd spot which gave them an advantage of playing the semi-final game at home ( the game prior to the game versus 18th from Ligue 1 – the true play-off game after all)
Auxerre – Le Havre
Finally, Auxerre took a new win after a long period of when scored a single goal, lost 5 times in a row and drew twice. Was necessary a nice finishing of Dugimont in order to claim this win versus in needs Sochaux, who put a lot of pressure many time in the game. With this win they have 5 points more than relegation spots and I think with another 3-4 points in the remaining rounds they will have no problem in staying in Ligue 2. But comparing with the squad they have, this season was also a poor one. Adeoti and Arcus are not in the squad.
It’s time for Lens to take a win and stay close to top5
Sochaux – Paris FC
Sochaux took their 2nd win of the year, first on the road, beating 1-0 Niort and leaving the play-out spot, after Nancy lost in this round. They are continuing good run after 2 draws versus top teams: Metz and Troyes (I think is first time this season in championship when they are not losing 3 consecutive games). But other 2 difficult games in front of Sochaux, versus another 2 teams which fight for promotion: Paris FC and LeHavre, so must stay focused.
Paris FC scored for second time this season 3 goals, having thanks god a new over (which I chased them from a while – odds were around 3). They won versus Auxerre scoring twice from penalty, both taken after some lethal counterattacks. They are now putting high pressure on Brest, reducing the gap between them and Brest at only 3 points with 8 rounds to go. Both are interesting end the season, with a plus for Brest though, who will plays most of the games versus lower ranked teams.
LeHavre – Niort
LeHavre is coming after a goalless draw at Lens and remains at appreciable distance till 5th spot. But don’t forget last season they were in a similar situation and somehow they took 6/7 wins in last rounds and caught the playoff spot. Will be they able to do this also in actual season? Difficult to say. Is interesting they have only 2 games versus other teams involved in the promotion battle, both at home versus Paris FC si Lorient. They lost Lekhal for a long period due to a bad injury. Youga is suspended after red card saw at Lens Monday night. For LeHavre 3 midfielders are missing: injured Lekhal and Bonnet plus suspended Youga – can be too much for them in terms of creativity
