Description

In the Middleweight division, we are gifted with an absolute treat! The man, the myth, the legend… Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva. Former UFC Champion and Brazilian Hero step’s back on home soil to defend his country’s honour versus a less than capable opponent in my opinion.

Call me biased, I don’t care. I will fanboy the f*** out when Anderson walk’s through that curtain into the arena on Saturday night in Rio De Janeiro and considering Jared’s more than average career performance, we might see a beautiful leg kick or knee finish like all times from The Spider. Anderson was able to hurt Daniel Cormier even though coming up short, and his battle with current Interim Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya wasn’t an easy one for the champ.

Let’s not forget, Anderson is 44 years of age. To still be able to hang with 2019’s top fighters is an accomplishment in itself, now facing someone who is slightly lower ranked than his previous opponents… Anderson has a legit chance to win. I can’t deny Jared did look good in his previous fight versus David Branch, but the level of competition is just non-comparable up against Anderson’s resume.

Anderson’s kicks and angles could be key here, this fight should stay on the feet and unless Jared could land a lucky K.O (which only one person has managed to do) there’s no way he is going to outpoint Anderson on the scorecards.

Turning the heat up in the fight even more for me are the underdog odds available, Jared isn’t smart enough to hang with Anderson… I think Silva can grab an easy decision victory or potentially even a knockout.

  • Anderson is 9-1 in Brazil
  • Anderson has the advantage in all striking statistics
  • Anderson has 22 wins by knockout
  • Anderson has the advantage in all grappling statistics
