Super Sage set to release his super rage

Sage Northcutt’s stint at 155lbs was always going to become harder each fight cutting so much weight whilst trying to maintain a healthy camp so, when it was announced 170lbs would be his home I was glad his evolution in this sport could evolve in a more natural weight division for him. Sage is a freak athlete who has been walking around with abs since birth, I’m happy he can focus on his actual martial arts rather than worrying about weight like we see with so many fighters in the UFC.

Taking nothing away from his opponent Zak Ottow this Saturday in Boise, Idaho I sense a storm is brewing for the up and coming 22-year-old MMA prodigy Sage Northcutt who has been a professional since he was 18! Every-time Sage makes an appearance in the octagon its clear to see he is soaking up every bit of advice and training he is receiving at Team Alpha Male and although Zak Ottow holds an impressive KO in his last fight against Mike Pyle, I feel Sage’s speed, athleticism and pure hunger to be the best in this sport will shine through.

Zak Ottow the 31-year-old fighting out of Pura Vida BJJ has his work cut out for him this weekend. I do see a path of victory for Zak which would be on the mat smothering Sage until he could maybe get some hooks in from the back and catch a rear naked choke but with that said, Sages take-down defense and get up is only going to become stronger with each camp he takes as we saw in his previous fight against strong grappler Thibault Gouti. Thibault landed 4 out of 5 take-downs but Sage was able to fight his way back to his feet every-time and escaped 1 submission attempt by Gouti, on the other side of the statistic board Sage out-struck Gouti 125 – 30.

Speed kills my friends, which brings me onto this week’s free tip for UFC Fight Night 133.

Sage Northcutt to win – 1.77 odds – total stake of 1.5 units.
